Ph level

soil pH directly affects nutrients in plants growth the best rate is between 6.0-6.5ph ,nutrients are effective when they are in soluble state, thus the uptake to by roots  is easier and faster .Nitrogen is the most soluble at Ph between  4 and 8,above or below this range its  restricted .
Therefore its advisable to be periodically check your soil ph level.
deficiency of nitrogen yellowish leaves.

Effects of low nitrogen
Deficiency of nitrogen leads to stunted and slow developments.older leaves become yellow and pale green.
nb.if you notice your plants are beginning to turn yellowish at the beginning of flowering period  then it lacks nitrogen.

Fertilisers
Some fertilisers also create acidic reactions namely.

Urea
ammonium sulphate
ammonium nitrate.

To reduce this reactions, gyp3 is mixed together with the fertiliser this also adds calcium on
In its composition sulphur lowers soil ph
sulphur +oxygen+water =sulphuric acid +soil calcium.
